Ryan Gaus De La Riva Series

Ryan Gaus Bio/ Course Synopsis
Ryan Gaus, the son of two black belts, has spent his entire life on the mats studying the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Beginning his formal training at just seven years old, he has grown up immersed in the sport and competing at a high level since his youth.
Ryan actively competes on the IBJJF circuit, continually striving to evolve and establish himself as an elite grappler. He has competed across the United States, earning multiple IBJJF Open titles and securing podium finishes at prestigious events such as IBJJF Nationals and Jiu-Jitsu Con.
Known for his relentless pressure, technical precision, and high-paced, dynamic style, Ryan is a well-rounded competitor capable of attacking from both top and bottom positions. His game is built on breaking down opponents with calculated pressure while maintaining a diverse and submission-oriented approach.
In this series, we go over the de-la-riva guard. We focus on keeping my opponent from passing, using a lot of off balancing and transitions to guards such as x-guard and single leg x.
We review several sweeps from all these positions as well as some finishes from the back. The techniques are not overly complex but still very effective at high levels. We learn to navigate the guards and focus on adjusting based on our partners reactions.
